| Sierra Leone Brewery was established in November 1961 at the Wellington Industrial Estate. It is one of a number of Breweries operating in West Africa with Heineken as adviser. The Star beer was introduced as early as January 1963, and today the brewery produces two other brands: Guinness Stout (under licence) and the non-alcoholic Maltina. Apart from brewing, the Sierra Leone Brewery is involved socially in the country. It initiated the National Amateur Boxing Tournament in 1970 and has sponsored it since then. The brewery also sponsors other sports like Golf, Table Tennis and Volley Ball. |
