| Andrejs Pumpurs, a Latvian poet, wrote the epic poem of Lacplesis between 1872-1887. The name is referring to a local legend. Lāčplēsis is actually regarded as the national epic of Latvia. AS Lacplesa Alus started the beer production in 1948, when the country was part of the former USSR. Today the brewery produces a variety of Lacplesis beers, among others a fruit beer, and German inspired beer types. |
